Killer Of Damilola Taylor Freed From Prison

One of the boys convicted of killing ten-year-old Nigerian-born Damilola Taylor in London, Ricky Preddie, has finally been released from prison.
Ricky, 25, was convicted of stabbing Nigerian-born Damilola in the leg with a broken glass bottle in Peckham, South East London on November 27, 2000.
Along with his brother Danny, who was released in 2011, Ricky was sentenced to eight years in jail for manslaughter in 2006.
Since 2010, Ricky had been released from prison on three occasions but was sent back to jail for breaching his parole on each occasion.
However, his sentence was completed last week and has now been freed.
A spokesperson for Damilola said: “Millions were spent on police investigations, Old Bailey trials and keeping the Preddies in jail. Yet they remain unreformed and show no remorse.”
A spokesman for Damilola’s dad is calling for a public inquiry into how the justice system has spent an estimated £22 million on the Preddie case to no effect.
Damilola was stabbed once in the leg, the knife severing his femoral artery. A 100-yard trail of blood showed where he had attempted to crawl to the safety of his home.
Six building workers tried to stem the flow but the boy, dressed in his maroon school jumper, was certified dead on arrival at hospital. Police appealed for help to trace three black youths aged between 11 and 14 wearing dark hooded tops, who were seen near where Damilola collapsed.
